Here’s another Mustang Specs post. Take a look at the previous spec posts  if you haven’t already.  These specs were pulled from the Ford Performance Group website, which lists information about any Ford vehicles (Lightning, Mustang Cobras, Taurus SHO, etc). This is a unique version of SVT Specs because there were major changes made from ’95-’96 as you will soon see (if you didn’t already know). Anyways, another beautiful model, and it’s no surprise that it packs power under the hood as well. That being said, here is some information about the 1996 SVT Mustang Cobra!

1996 Mustang Cobra Specs

Engine Type: V8
Horsepower: 305 @ 4800 RPM
Compression: 9.85:1
Displacement: 4.6L/280 CID
Torque: 300 ft/lbs @ 4800 RPM

While the ’95 adopted a new body style, it kept the same 5.0L engine. However, the ’96 SVT dropped to a 4.6L but as you may notice there were considerable increases in HP and TQ.

Top Speed: 152 MPH
0-60 MPH: 5.9 seconds

The 1996 dropped back under the 6.0 second 0-60 time and the top speed increased 12MPH over that of the ’95. That’s what we like to see!

There were considerably more 96′s produced than the 95′s, but here are the numbers.

COUPE:
Black: 2,124
White: 1,429
Laser Red: 1,940
Mystic: 2,000

CONVERTIBLE:
Black: 1,054
Laser Red: 962
White: 494

TOTAL: 10,003

Like we said, nearly double the number produced in ’96. We’ll see how that changes in 1997, but we are betting we will see another increase in production and performance. We’ll just have to wait and see though.
